Tablix Properties Dialog Box, General

Select General on the Tablix Properties dialog box to change the data region name, add a tooltip, choose the dataset, add page breaks, and repeat or freeze row headings and column headings for rows and columns that are associated with row groups and column groups.

Options

  • Name
Type a case-sensitive name that begins with a letter and has no spaces. The name can include letters, numbers, or underscores (_). The name must be unique in the report. By default, a general name, such as Tablix1, is assigned.

  • ToolTip
Type text or an expression that evaluates to a ToolTip. Click the Expression (fx) button to edit the expression. The ToolTip appears when the user pauses the pointer over the item in the report when using the HTML report viewer.

  • Dataset name
Select the dataset to use for this data region. You can use only one dataset for each data region.

  • Page break options
Select options to indicate how content is fitted to a report page.

  • Add a page break before
Insert a page break before the selected data region.

  • Add a page break after
Insert a page break after the selected data region.

  • Keep together on one page if possible
Fit all the contents of the data region on one page if possible. Whether this can occur or not depends on several factors, including how much data appears in the data region, the type of renderer used to view the report, and the page width and height.

  • Row Headers
Choose options that allow you to control the behavior of the row headings.

  • Repeat header rows on each page
Display the columns that display row headings along the side of each page of the report when the report is rendered. All columns that are controlled by row group headers in the row groups area of a tablix data region are controlled as a unit. Repeating header rows as a static column is not supported. For more information, see Controlling Row and Column Headings (Report Builder 3.0 and SSRS).

  • Header should remain visible while scrolling
Lock the columns that display row headings to prevent them from scrolling out of view as you view the rendered data region. All columns that are controlled by row group headers in the row groups area of a tablix data region are controlled as a unit. Freezing header rows in a static column is not supported. For more information, see Controlling Row and Column Headings (Report Builder 3.0 and SSRS).
