Mining Structures (Role Designer) (Analysis Services - Data Mining)

Use the Mining Structures page of Role Designer to grant or revoke access to mining structures and mining models within the selected database for users in the selected role.

Note

All options on this page are not available if Full control (Administrator) is selected on the General page of Role Designer.

Mining Structures Options

Use the Mining Structures grid to grant or revoke access to mining structures, and to display mining models in the Mining Models grid for the selected mining structure. The grid contains the following columns:

  • Mining Structure Name
    Displays the name of the mining structure.

    To display the mining models for a mining structure, click the mining structure name, and the Mining Models grid will update with the corresponding mining models.

  • Access
    Selects the access level for the selected mining structure in this role. The following table lists the access levels that are available.

    Description

    None

    Users will be unable to access information from the mining structure.

    Read

    Users will be able to read information from the mining structure.

  • Read Definition
    Grants users who are in this role permission to read the metadata associated with the mining structure.

    Note

    This option is selected but not available if the Read definition option is selected on the General page of Role Designer.

  • Process
    Grants users who are in this role permission to process the selected mining structure.

    Note

    This option is selected but not available if the Process database option is selected on the General page of Role Designer.

Mining Models Options

Use the Mining Models grid to grants or revoke access to mining models for the mining structure selected in Mining Structures. The grid contains the following columns:

  • Mining Model Name
    Displays the name of the mining model.

  • Access
    Selects the access level that users in this role will have when accessing the associated mining model. The following table lists the access levels that are available.

    Description

    None

    Users are unable to read information from the mining model.

    Read

    Users are able to read information from the mining model.

    Read/Write

    Users are able to read and write information from the mining model.

  • Drillthrough
    Grants users who are in this role permission to drill through to the underlying data source associated with the mining model.

  • Read Definition
    Grants users who are in this role permission to read the metadata associated with the mining model.

    Note

    This option is selected but not available if the Read definition option is selected on the General page of Role Designer.

  • Browse
    Grants users who are in this role permission to browse the content of the selected mining model.
