International Client Pack
Applies To: System Center Configuration Manager 2007, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2
International Client Packs (ICPs) are installed on U.S. English sites only and contain the localized client language files required to install local language Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 clients. Localized Configuration Manager 2007 client software is installed only on computers running a corresponding localized operating system.
The client languages contained within each ICP are listed in the following table.
|International Client Pack||Languages|
English, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish
All the ICP1 languages, plus Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Portuguese-Brazilian, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Swedish, Traditional Chinese, and Turkish
The Configuration Manager 2007 ICPs are cumulative. Any client language that exists in a previous ICP will also exist in all subsequent releases. For example, ICP2 includes all client languages that existed in ICP1.
All client languages contained in an ICP are installed at the same time on the site server. You cannot install the client languages individually. For example, if you want to install an Italian Configuration Manager 2007 client, you must use ICP2, which contains all the languages of ICP1 and ICP2.
You cannot uninstall ICPs. If you decide you want to return your system to its non-localized version, you must reinstall your English site server or restore your backup.
Although it is possible to run International Client Pack (ICP) Setup on non-English language secondary site servers, this type of installation is not supported. ICP setup is only supported on English site servers on English operating systems.
Site configurations that mix the release levels of the English language site server and an installed ICP are not supported. Previously released ICPs are not compatible with later versions of the Configuration Manager 2007 site server software. After you upgrade the site server, immediately install the matching version of the ICP you are using or that of a higher-numbered ICP. Do not upgrade a site server that supports localized clients until you are ready to install the matching version of the ICP you are using or that of a higher-numbered ICP. For example, if you have a site server that is using SMS 2003 SP2 ICP1 and you upgrade that site server to Configuration Manager 2007, you must immediately install Configuration Manager 2007 with an ICP level equal to or greater than ICP1.
Client Multilingual User Interfaces
If your Configuration Manager 2007 sites have an ICP applied and your client computers run Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional, Windows Server 2003, or Windows Vista operating systems, Configuration Manager 2007 offers support for Multilingual User Interface Packs (MUIs).
The client included with each ICP consists of a single client installer file, Client.msi. The Client.msi file includes all language resources necessary for clients to switch between supported languages. The default installation language is English. To display a client localized installation language, you must install the client with the
TRANSFORMS command-line option. As an example, you can use the following command from the Japanese language folder:
msiexec.exe /i client.msi TRANSFORMS=client.mst
Requirements: Configuration Manager 2007 client users or administrators do not need to create a registry key to use an MUI. After the client is installed, the user can switch from one language to another, within the supported languages, without reinstalling the Configuration Manager 2007 client software. However, the user must log off the client computer and log on again each time the user changes the display language.
Sample Client User Interfaces
Configuration Manager 2007 provides your organization great flexibility when planning your site's client composition, considering the large number of different localized clients possible that can report to a single U.S. English site. The following example shows what users on Configuration Manager clients with ICPs see when viewing the Program Download Monitor. The example is Japanese.
