Administrator Workflow: Creating and Modifying Collections

Fundamental to the package distribution process in Configuration Manager is the creation and use of collections. Collections represent groups of discovered resources within your enterprise and while a set of default collections is provided with a standard Configuration Manager installation, you can create new collections to meet your specific needs. Additionally, with collection-specific settings such as maintenance windows, restart settings, and so on, even the default collections are likely to be modified.
The following flowchart provides a high level visual workflow for the steps for creating and modifying collections, and the links at the end of this document provide detailed information about each process.
