DPM System Recovery Tool Schedule Console

Applies To: System Center Data Protection Manager 2007

Use the Schedule Console to create and manage recovery point schedules. Recovery points allow you to roll back any changes that may cause a system to become unstable. From the Schedule Console, you can create or delete recovery point schedules, manually create recovery points, connect to domains, search for computers, and perform other tasks to help administer recovery point schedules.

The Schedule Console is a Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in that displays information in a two-pane view that is similar to Windows Explorer. The Scope pane on the left contains nodes to manage the various program features of the DPM System Recovery Tool (SRT). The Details pane displays additional information about the node selected in the Scope pane. The toolbar icons and contents of each menu change according to the objects selected in the Scope or Details panes.

The Scope pane displays the following nodes:

Note

  • The Schedule Console automatically launches the New Schedule Wizard if no existing schedules are detected.

  • To create schedules and manually create recovery points, DPM System Recovery Tool requires that the console operator log on with an account that has local administrator privileges on both the Schedule Console computer and the client computers. Check the File Store share permissions, trust relationships, and local group policy to confirm that the specified account has proper access privileges.

  • Computers are designated as workstations or servers based on the type of operating system installed on the computer. Computers with Windows Server 2003 are recognized as servers while computers without a server operating system are recognized as workstations.
