Incorrect Operations Manager Process Fmd Alerts Might Be Generated on SPARC-Based and x86-Based Computers Running Solaris 10 Zones

Applies To: Operations Manager 2007 R2

On SPARC-based and x86-based computers that are running the Sun Solaris 10 operating system, the Process Fmd monitor might generate incorrect System Center Operations Manager alerts. This problem occurs when you are monitoring whole root zones or sparse root zones (non-global zones).

The cross-platform management pack for Solaris 10, Microsoft.Solaris.10.mp, contains a Process Fmd monitor. This monitor is automatically enabled for both global and non-global zones. However, the Fmd process does not run on non-global zones. Because the Fmd process is not running on the non-global zones, the Process Fmd monitor automatically generates incorrect Operations Manager alerts.

To prevent these incorrect alerts, disable the Process Fmd monitor for all the non-global zones to eliminate the invalid Process Fmd alerts. For more information about how to disable a monitor, see How to Disable a Monitor or Rule Using Overrides (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=125661).

To correctly monitor a Solaris 10-based computer, ensure the Process Fmd monitor remains enabled for the global zone.
