Procedure

To open a connector mailbox using Mdbvu32.exe

  1. Ensure that the MAPI-based connector is started.

  2. Open Regedit and locate the subkey of the connector under HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles.

  3. Right-click the key that represents the connector's MAPI profile and select Export. For example, export the SERVER01-LME-GWISE V5.5 key if you want to examine the message queues of Connector for Novell GroupWise.

  4. Export the key to a .reg file, and then close the registry editor.

  5. Open the exported .reg file in Notepad and replace all occurrences of HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18 with HKEY_CURRENT_USER.

  6. Save the changes and close Notepad.

  7. Double-click the .reg file and in the dialog box that informs you that you are about to import settings into the registry, click Yes. In the dialog box that informs you that this step is complete, click OK.

  8. Ensure that the administrator account with which you are working is not a member of the Enterprise Admins or Domain Admins group. Temporarily, add your account to the Exchange Domain Servers group to gain access permissions for the connector mailbox.

  9. Start Mdbvu32.exe and in the MAPILogonEx dialog box, click OK.

  10. In the Choose Profile dialog box, select the MAPI profile of the connector, such as SERVER01-LME-GWISE V5.5, and then click OK.

  11. From the MDB menu, select OpenMessageStore. In the Select Message Store To Open dialog box, verify that the MAPI-based connector is selected, and then click Open.

  12. From the MDB menu, select Open Root Folder, and in the MAPI_FOLDER - Root dialog box, double-click on the system folder that you want to examine, such as MTS-IN.

  13. Close Mdbvu32.exe and remove your account from the Exchange Domain Servers group.
