Configuration Wizard: Collection Server and Database page

Applies To: Forefront Client Security

Use this wizard page to specify details about the collection server and database. If you are configuring Client Security right after installing it, make sure to enter the same information that you entered in the Setup wizard.

Control Description

Collection server

Specifies the computer name of the collection server. The default value is the current computer on which you are running the Configuration wizard. If you installed the collection server on the current computer, the default value should be correct.

Important

If the collection server and the management server are installed on different computers, then the default value here is incorrect. Make sure to update this value before continuing.

In the standard topologies, the collection server and database are installed on the same computer.

For more information about the collection server, see "Server components" in the Client Security Planning and Architecture Guide.

Collection database

Specifies the name of the computer on which the collection database is located. If the collection database is not a default instance of a SQL Server database, you must also enter the instance name. For example: computer name\instance name

If you installed the collection database on the current computer, the default value should be correct.

Important

If the collection database and the management server are installed on different computers, then the default value here is incorrect. Make sure to update this value before continuing.

In the standard topologies, the collection server and database are installed on the same computer.

For more information about the collection database, see "Server components" in the Client Security Planning and Architecture Guide.

Management group

Specifies the name of the management group for this deployment of Client Security. If you are deploying multiple instances of Client Security (for example, to support more than 10,000 client computers), you can distinguish between the instances by using different management groups.

The default management group name is ForefrontClientSecurity.

Client Security uses Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 to collect and report about malware and vulnerabilities on the client computers. To learn about the MOM components in Client Security, see "Client Security and Microsoft Operations Manager" in the Planning and Architecture Guide.
