Save your work

Microsoft Expression Design saves documents in its native .design file format. You can also export your artwork in a variety of other formats, such as XAML or JPEG. However, these file formats all differ in the types of details that they preserve. Therefore, we recommend that you save at least one master copy of your work as a .design file so that you can make changes when they are necessary.

To save a document

  • On the File menu, click Save or press CTRL+S.

If you are saving the file for the first time, a dialog box opens. Type the file name in the folder you want, and then click the Save button.

To save a document with a different name

  1. On the File menu, click Save As.

  2. In the dialog box that opens, type a new name, select the folder where you want to save the file, and then click Save.

To save a copy of a document

  • On the File menu, click Save a Copy.

When you try to close a document without first saving it, Expression Design asks you if you want to save it before closing.
