Important

This feature will be removed in a future version of Windows. Avoid using this feature in new development work, and plan to modify applications that currently use this feature. Applications should instead use WCF Data Service.

Installation Notes

MSDAREM.DLL is included with MDAC 2.0 and later and Windows DAC 6.0 and later. This provider must be installed on both the computer where the consumer exists and on every remote server to be accessed. In addition to MSDAREM.DLL, every remote computer must have the OLE DB Persistence Provider (MSDAPRST.DLL) and the Cursor Service for OLE DB (MSADCE.DLL) installed.

Supported Platforms

The OLE DB Remoting Provider can function on any platform where MDAC or Windows DAC is installed.
