Speech API English Text To Speech Voice (Sam)
The Speech API English Text To Speech Voice (Sam) component contains a program that converts typed or stored text to spoken language. A pregenerated voice verbalizes the text. Microsoft provides a default voice, called Microsoft Sam. Additional voices can be purchased from independent speech engine manufacturers and loaded during the installation of an application that uses speech recognition.
Each voice is characterized by a specific language, for example, English, Japanese, or Chinese; a sub-language, for example, American English, British English, or Australian English; a gender; and an age, for example, a child under 13 years old, or an adult. Proprietary features may provide additional characteristics from the manufacturer's engine.
