Interactive Installation

2/16/2009

You can install Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 in an interactive environment through a series of Setup Wizard pages. Interactive installation is typically selected for deployment on only a couple computers or to create an answer file by using the /guionly command-line switch. For more information about the /guionly command-line switch, see POSReady Setup and the Command Line.

Note

After POSReady starts for the first time, you may be prompted to restart your computer to finish installing additional hardware.

Setup Wizard

The POSReady Setup Wizard displays step-by-step instructions that enable you to customize your POSReady installation.

Setup Wizard Requirements

You will be required to provide the following information and settings for your installation:

  • The product key, if you are not evaluating POSReady
  • Name of the user and organization
  • File system (NTFS or FAT32)
  • Administrator password (must not exceed 95 characters)
  • Networking settings
  • Domain or workgroup name

Setup Wizard and Mass Storage Drivers

If you are installing by using a disc, you can install mass-storage device drivers by pressing F6 before the Setup Wizard starts. Select this option if you are installing POSReady to a Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) drive, Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) drive, or other storage type that requires third-party drivers. These devices will then appear in the Setup Wizard. For more information about how to use F6, see Adding Drivers for Your POSReady Installation. For more information about how to install with a USB flash drive, see Installing POSReady by Using a USB Flash Drive.

Setup Wizard and Optional Components

The Setup Wizard enables you to select which optional components you want to install, such as Internet Information Services (IIS). For more information about optional components available in POSReady, see Installing POSReady Optional Components.
