Optimization (Compact 2013)

3/26/2014

Optimization helps you make the best use of memory and system resources to attain peak system performance. The solutions presented in these guides are not intended to replace good software design practices, but to help you get optimum performance out of your design.

You can optimize many aspects of an embedded device OS, such as reducing the ROM footprint or shortening system startup time. Because OS ROM size, memory usage, and performance are related, there is always a trade-off that you must make in your optimization strategy. For example, if you reduce the ROM footprint, you could use more RAM and slow down the system. To reduce the effects from this trade-off, you can perform other optimizations, such as enabling file caching, as explained in the guides in this section.

In This Section

  • Optimize Runtime Performance
Describes how to analyze and maximize your system runtime performance, and how to optimize RAM usage for best graphics performance.
