Service UWF-Protected Devices (Standard 8)

Review the servicing options for your Unified Write Filter (UWF)-enabled Windows Embedded 8 Standard (Standard 8) device.

When a device is protected with Unified Write Filter (UWF), you must use UWF servicing mode commands to service the device and apply updates to an image. You can use servicing mode to apply Windows updates to your UWF-protected devices. You can also add support for antimalware updates to UWF-protected devices.

The process for applying updates to your UWF device is:

  1. Disable UWF on your device.
  2. Reboot your device.
  3. Apply updates to your device.
  4. Re-enable UWF on your device.
  5. Reboot your device.
