Pocket Internet Explorer Features
With a ROM footprint of less than 2 MB, Pocket Internet Explorer is the browser of choice for devices that require a Web browser but have the most stringent memory requirements and small displays, such as those on handheld devices or mobile phones. Pocket Internet Explorer is also the host container for the Help application. Thus, any platform that includes Help will automatically include the Pocket Internet Explorer component, although you still need to select the browser from the Catalog for it to be registered and functional as a browser.
Pocket Internet Explorer is ideally suited for controlled-content browsing. For example, content provided by a subscription service that offers content optimized for small form-factor browsers or when the browser is used only to access an intranet. Keep in mind that many feature-rich Web sites do not implement backward-compatible pages for earlier browser versions; therefore, pages may not render properly, or at all, on Pocket Internet Explorer 6.0.
Effective with Windows CE .NET version 4.2, Pocket Internet Explorer provides the HTML Viewer Control, which can be used to display HTML text and embedded images.
