Error Message:

RIP Routing requires static IP addresses. Do you want to reconfigure your IP address?

Most routers use a protocol such as RIP (routing information protocol) or OSPF (open shortest path first) to exchange routing tables with each other. However, Windows 2000 3.5x does not include RIP. Therefore, if computers that run Windows 2000 are used as routers, they do not exchange routing tables. In this case, manual configuration of static routes may be necessary. Information on how to set up static routes is available in the TCP/IP manuals for Windows 2000, and from the Microsoft Knowledge Base.

User Action:

Click Yes to reconfigure the TCP/IP protocol stack. Click No to continue.
