View a Job or Task

Applies To: Windows HPC Server 2008

In HPC Cluster Manager, you can view job or task properties, states, and results for cluster jobs at any time. To view jobs details and tasks, you must have administrative rights or be the submitting user.

For information about using HPC Cluster Manager, see Overview of HPC Cluster Manager.

Viewing job properties and results

In the View Job dialog box, you can see information about job details, the list of tasks in the job, the selected resources, the licenses, the results and statistics for the job, and the details and results for failed tasks in the job.

To view a job

  1. In Job Management, in the Navigation Pane, click All Jobs. A list of all jobs in the cluster appears in the views pane.

  2. In the job list, right-click a job, then click View Job.

  3. The View Job dialog box displays job and task properties, states, and results.

Viewing task properties and results

If a task does not specify Standard Output and Standard Error files, the results are directed to the HPC Job Scheduler Service database and appear as the task’s output fields in the Task Properties dialog box. The database stores up to 4 KB of data per task. Any additional data beyond 4 KB is truncated. If the task specifies the Standard Output and Standard Error files, the task output is directed to those locations.

To view task properties and results

  1. In Job Management, in the Navigation Pane, click All Jobs.

  2. In the job list, click a job. A list of tasks for the selected job appears in the Detail Pane.

  3. Right-click a task, then click View Task to display the task properties and the task results.
