Deleting a Rights Policy Template

To Delete a Rights Policy Template

  1. Log on to the computer with a user account that is a member of the local Administrators group.

  2. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Windows RMS, and then click Windows RMS Administration to open the Global Administration page.

  3. Next to the Web site from which you want to delete a rights policy template, click Administer RMS on this Web site.

  4. In the Administration links area, click Rights policy templates.

  5. Select the check box of each rights policy template to delete, and then click Delete each selected rights policy template.

Make sure to remove all rights protection from content that was protected with the rights policy template to be deleted. If content is protected with a deleted rights policy template, the content is not recoverable. Additionally when a rights policy template is deleted from the configuration database, all instances of this template should be deleted from all RMS client computers to avoid content being protected with a template that no longer exists. If this happens, RMS users will not be able to consume the rights-protected content.
