Create a COM+ partition in Active Directory

To create a COM+ partition in Active Directory
Open Active Directory Users and Computers.
On the View menu, select Advanced Features.
In the console tree, right-click ComPartitions, and then click New Partition.

Under Partition Name, type a name for the new partition.
To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Domain Admins group or the Enterprise Admins group in Active Directory, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority. As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure. For more information, see Default local groups, Default groups, and Using Run as.
To open Active Directory Users and Computers, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Active Directory Users and Computers.
Once you have created a COM+ partition using Active Directory Users and Computers, you must then create an empty partition on a application server and associate it with the appropriate COM+ partition in Active Directory. For more information, see Related Topics.
When creating a new COM+ partition, a partition ID is automatically generated and displayed under Partition ID in the Properties dialog box. If you want to specify a different GUID for the new COM+ partition, delete the existing partition ID and type a new one.
