To print a test page
To print a test page, you must have the Print permission, which is one of several printer permissions. You can also print a test page when you first install a printer. For more information, click Related Topics.
Open Printers and Faxes.
Right-click the printer you want to test, and then click Properties.
On the General tab, click Print Test Page.
Click OK if the test page printed correctly. If the test page did not print correctly, click Troubleshoot to open the Print Troubleshooter for help resolving the printing problem.
To open Printers and Faxes, click Start, and then click Printers and Faxes.
You can also open printer properties from the Printers and Faxes folder by clicking a printer, and then clicking Set printer properties under Tasks on the left side of the window. This option is available only if folders are set to look like a Web page and a printer is selected. For more information, click Related Topics.
Another way to open the Printing Troubleshooter is to click Troubleshoot printing under See Also on the left side of Printers and Faxes. This option is available only if folders are set to look like a Web page, and if a printer is not currently selected. For more information, click Related Topics.
