The Hyper-V role enables you to create a virtualized server computing environment using a technology that is part of Windows Server 2008. This type of environment is useful because you can create and manage virtual machines, which allows you to run multiple operating systems on one physical computer and isolate the operating systems from each other. As a result, you can use a virtualized computing environment to improve the efficiency of your computing resources by utilizing more of your hardware resources.
For more information about Hyper-V, see the Windows Server 2008 Technical Library (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=93752).
