Configure a Custom VSA

You can use this procedure to create a custom vendor-specific attribute (VSA) that conforms or does not conform to the RADIUS Request For Comments (RFC) specification for vendor-specific attributes.
Note
The RADIUS dictionary of attributes contains many attributes from a variety of vendors. Before creating a custom attribute, verify that the attribute does not already exist in the dictionary of attributes. To view the dictionary, open a network policy, click the Settings tab, and then click either RADIUS Standard or Vendor Specific. To view the attribute list, click Add.
Membership in Domain Admins, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.
Configure a custom VSA
To configure a custom vendor-specific attribute
Open the Network Policy Server console, double-click Policies,and then double-click Network Policies. Double-click the policy to which you want to add a custom VSA. The policy properties dialog box opens.
In policy properties, click Settings, and then click Vendor Specific. In the details pane, click Add. The Add Vendor Specific Attribute dialog box opens.
In Vendor, select Custom, and then click Add. The Attribute Information dialog box opens.
Click Add. The Vendor-Specific Attribute Information dialog box opens. In Specify network access server vendor, choose an item in Select from list, or click Enter Vendor Code, and then type the vendor code supplied by your device manufacturer.
Select whether the custom attribute conforms to the RADIUS RFC by clicking either Yes, it conforms, or No, it does not conform.
Click Configure Attribute. Depending on your selection in the previous step, either the Configure VSA (non-RFC Compliant) or Configure VSA (RFC Compliant) dialog box opens. Configure the VSA using values supplied by your hardware manufacturer.
