Grant computer access privileges for an Incoming Connection
Applies To: Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 7
You can use this procedure to determine which user accounts defined on your computer can access it from a remote computer by using the dial-in network connection.
Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.
To grant incoming connections access rights to your computer
Right-click Incoming Connections, and then click Properties.
If you have created an incoming connection but Incoming Connections is not visible in the Network Connections folder, you must configure folder options to show hidden files and folders. To do so, press ALT, and then click Tools and Folder Options. In the Folder Options dialog box, click the View tab. In Advanced settings, in Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK.
On the General tab, do one or more of the following:
In Devices, click the check boxes next to the devices by which incoming connections can connect.
If you have more than one device selected, and you want to enable multilink dialing, select the Enable multilink check box.
If you want to enable others to make private connections to your computer by tunneling through the Internet or other network, select the Allow others to make private connections to my computer by tunneling through the Internet or other network check box.
On the Users tab, do one or more of the following:
If you want to allow a user to connect, select the check box next to the specific user name.
If you want to revoke the right of a user to connect, clear the check box next to the name of a user.
To create a new user and grant them access to connect, click New.
To remove a user, click Delete.
To modify the name of a user, their password, or callback options, click Properties.
If you want directly connected devices to connect without providing a password, select the Always allow directly connected devices such as handheld computers to connect without providing a password check box.
On the Networking tab, do one or more of the following:
If you want to enable a network component, in Network components, select the check box next to the component name.
If you want to disable a network component, in Network components, clear the check box next to the component name.
To add a network component, click Install.
To remove a network component, click Uninstall.
To configure a network component, click Properties.
