Resolve

Stop and start the FTP service

To perform this procedure, you must have membership in Administrators, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.

To stop and start the FTP Service:

  1. Open an elevated Command Prompt window. Click Start, point to All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
  2. At the command prompt, type net stop msftpsvc.
  3. At the command prompt, type net start msftpsvc.

Verify

To perform this procedure, you must have membership in Administrators, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.

To verify that the FTP service is running:

  1. Open an elevated Command Prompt window. Click Start, point to All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
  2. Type sc query msftpsvc, and press ENTER. The FTP service is running if the state reported for the service is 4 RUNNING.
