Change Settings for a Network Adapter

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

You can use this procedure to change hardware settings of your network adapter.

Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

To change the settings for a network adapter

  1. Open Device Manager.

  2. Double-click Network adapters.

  3. Right-click the network adapter you want, and then click Properties.

  4. On the Advanced tab, make the changes you want by selecting a Property in the left-hand list, and then selecting the appropriate Value for that property from the right-hand column. The settings available for you to change are determined by the device manufacturer.

  5. When you are done, click OK to close the Properties dialog box.

Additional considerations

  • Device properties for network adapters are device dependent. Read the device manufacturer's instruction manual to determine which settings you must change.
