Configuring Remote Management (IIS 7)

Applies To: Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2

The IIS Manager UI lets you configure remote connections to manage remote Web servers, sites, and applications. After the remote connection is established, users can manage IIS configuration for Web servers, sites, applications, physical or virtual directories, and files. By default, the remote connections are made over the HTTPS protocol on port 8172, and they work with a firewall.

Only server administrators who are using IIS Manager on the local computer can configure the management service in IIS 7.

This task includes the following procedures:

Enable Remote Management (IIS 7)

Configure Connection Settings for the Management Service (IIS 7)

Configure IPv4 Address Restrictions for Remote Connections (IIS 7)

Delete an IPv4 Address Restriction for Remote Connections (IIS 7)

Allow or Deny Remote Connections from Unspecified Clients (IIS 7)
