View Routing Tables

The routing table is a dynamic list of routes that is built and maintained by routing protocols, such as Routing Information Protocol (RIP), and static routes. The router uses the information in the routing table to make routing decisions for incoming IP packets. The routing table is also useful as a troubleshooting tool: you can use it to verify that all of the networks that a router is connected to are represented.

To view an IPv4 or IPv6 routing table

Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

  1. Open the Routing and Remote Access MMC snap-in.

  2. In the console tree, expand the router name, and then expand IPv4 or IPv6.

  3. Right-click Static Routes, and then select Show IP Routing Table.
