Verifying the migration of the RD Session Host server or terminal server

See the following sections to verify the migration by using either the listener service or Qwinsta:

  • Verify the migration by using the listener service

  • Verify the migration by using Qwinsta

Verify the migration by using the listener service

To verify the migration of the RD Session Host server, check if the listener service is listening on port 3389.

The listener component runs on the RD Session Host server and is responsible for listening for and accepting new Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) client connections.

To connect to the listener service

  1. On the RD Session Host server, click Start, click Run, type cmd and then click OK.

  2. At the command prompt, type netstat -a and then press ENTER.

  3. The entry for 0.0.0.0:3389 (TCP port 3389) should be Listening.

Verify the migration by using Qwinsta

To verify the migration of the RD Session Host server by using Qwinsta, check status information for the RD Session Host server. To check the status of the RD Session Host server, see the instructions in Query session (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=195058).
