Configure IEM Settings

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

You can use Internet Explorer Maintenance (IEM) in Group Policy to perform the following tasks to customize Internet Explorer for the users and computers in your organization. Some of these tasks are only possible if you are using IEM either in non-Preference Mode or in Preference Mode. By default, IEM is in non-Preference Mode. When you are using IEM in Preference Mode, the text (Preference Mode) appears next to the items that can be configured. In addition, a new category, Advanced, appears in the left pane. When IEM is in non-Preference Mode, all visible items can be configured.

For instructions on changing IEM from non-Preference Mode to Preference Mode, see Use IEM in Preference Mode.
