Open MMC 3.0
Applies To: Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista
You can open MMCÂ 3.0 either through the Windows interface or the command line:
Using the Windows interface
- Click Start, click in the Start Search text box, type mmc, and then press ENTER.
Using a command line
Open a command window by clicking Start, clicking in the Start Search text box, typing cmd, and then pressing ENTER.
At the command prompt, type mmc, and then press ENTER.
Note
If you are restricted from using certain snap-ins by Local Policies or Group Policies, you cannot open snap-in consoles that contain those snap-ins.
To open an existing or saved MMC console, browse to the snap-in console or a shortcut to the snap-in console in Windows Explorer, and then double-click it.
You can also open an existing MMC console from another console in which you are working. To do this, click the File menu, and then click Open.
