Troubleshooting Printers

I do not see the shared printer listed on the Devices tab

Cause This may occur if the List in the directory option was not selected on the Sharing tab of the Printer Properties page when you added and shared the printer to the network.

Solution You need you to manually enter your printer’s network address to display it in the Windows SBS Console.

To list a shared printer in the Windows SBS Console

  1. Open the Windows SBS Console.

  2. On the navigation bar, click the Network tab, and then click Devices.

  3. On task pane, click List a shared printer in this console.

  4. On the Show shared printer in the console dialog box, type the network path of the printer. To find the network path of the printer, see How do I find the network path of a shared printer?.

I receive the error: “The server for the printer does not have the correct printer driver installed”

Cause The 32-bit driver for the printer is not installed on the client computer.

Solution Download the 32-bit driver for the printer from the printer manufacturer’s website, and then install the driver on the client computer.
