"Sorry, your session has expired" when you open a document in an Office Online application

Problem

When you try to open a document from Microsoft SharePoint Online in a Microsoft Office Online application, you receive the following error message:

  • Sorry, your session has expired. Please refresh the page to continue.

Solution

To resolve this issue, correct the system time, system date, or time zone on the affected computer.
