IBCPSession::BCPDone (Native Client OLE DB Provider)

Applies to: SQL Server Azure SQL Database Azure SQL Managed Instance Azure Synapse Analytics Analytics Platform System (PDW)

Important

The SQL Server Native Client (often abbreviated SNAC) has been removed from SQL Server 2022 (16.x) and SQL Server Management Studio 19 (SSMS). Both the SQL Server Native Client OLE DB provider (SQLNCLI or SQLNCLI11) and the legacy Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server (SQLOLEDB) are not recommended for new development. Switch to the new Microsoft OLE DB Driver (MSOLEDBSQL) for SQL Server going forward.

Commits the remaining rows to be sent to SQL Server.

Syntax

HRESULT BCPDone(void);

Remarks

No other operation can be called on the IBCPSession interface after calling the BCPDone method. The only possibility is to call the IBCPSession::BCPInit method to initiate a new bulk copy operation. This is similar to calling the IRowsetFastLoad::Commit method.

Return Code Values

S_OK
The method succeeded.

E_UNEXPECTED
The call to the method was unexpected. For example, the BCPInit method was not called before calling this method.

Example

This sample shows how to use the IBCPSession interface.

The following Transact-SQL must be executed before running this sample:

create table fltest(col1 int, col2 int, col3 image)
insert into fltest values (1, 1, 0x0FF)
insert into fltest values (2, 2, 0xF00)
insert into fltest values (3, 3, 0xBAD)
insert into fltest values (4, 4, 0xFAD)

The sample connects to the master database.

When the sample runs, it creates outfile.dat in the project directory. The outfile.dat contains the data copied from the table in native (binary) mode.

You could use BCP to add this data back into the table with the following command:

bcp master..fltest in outfile.dat -n -T -S server

You will need to specify sqlncli11.lib when compiling this sample.
