Restrict who can create organization-wide channels in Microsoft Stream (Classic)

Warning

Microsoft Stream (Classic) is being retired and replaced by Stream (on SharePoint) and Microsoft Teams live events. It is recommended to start using Stream (on SharePoint) by uploading videos to SharePoint, Teams, Viva Engage, or OneDrive, and to run your live events through Teams and Viva Engage.

As an organization you may want to limit who can upload create organization-wide channels in Stream. By default, everyone can create organization-wide channels.

You need to be a Stream (Classic) admin to change this setting.

1. In Stream, go to Settings > Admin settings

   

2. Set Content creation > Restrict companywide channel creation to On.

   

   Note

   When this setting is enabled, employees will not be allowed to create new organization-wide channels. However, any previously created organization-wide channels will remain in the system and not be automatically deleted.
