Community support offerings in Visual Studio subscriptions

Microsoft offers several ways to use the power of the developer community to help you solve issues and find answers to questions.

Developer Community

Post questions, find answers and share your knowledge in the Developer Community forums.

Access the Developer Community

Connecting to the Developer Community is simple.

  1. Sign in to the Visual Studio subscriptions portal at https://my.visualstudio.com/benefits.
  2. Find the Developer Community tile in the Support section, and select Get help. (You can also point your browser directly to https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/.)

You can search for answers, or view content in product areas such as:

  • Visual Studio
  • Visual Studio for Mac
  • .NET
  • C++
  • Azure DevOps
  • Azure DevOps Server (TFS)

Within each area, there are updates, problem reports, discussion of new features, and more. You can also report problems and request new features.

Microsoft Q&A

Have a technical product question? Find it on Microsoft Q&A – the home for technical questions and answers at Microsoft.

You can search questions and answers on a wide range of supported products, including:

Access Microsoft Q&A

Accessing Microsoft Q&A is simple.

  1. Sign in to the Visual Studio subscriptions portal at https://my.visualstudio.com/benefits.
  2. Find the Microsoft Q&A tile in the Support section, and select Get help.

Microsoft Tech Community

Connect and engage with fellow users and Microsoft technical experts on best practices, design architecture and the latest updates.

Access the Microsoft Tech Community

Accessing the community forum is simple.

  1. Sign in to https://my.visualstudio.com/benefits.

  2. Locate the Microsoft Tech Community tile and select Get help.

  3. If you haven't previously registered for the community, select Get Started.

  4. In the Step 1: Setup your profile section:

    • Select your preferred language
    • Enter your work email address
    • Create your profile name
  5. For Step 2: Code of Conduct read the Code of Conduct and then select the checkbox to indicate your acceptance of the Code of Conduct and Terms of Service.

  6. Select Register to finish setting up your profile.

You're now ready to use the community portal. The home page has news about the community. To see content specific to the communities you joined, select the Community Hubs drop-down at the top of the page and choose a community from your list. You can always add communities to the list by selecting Browse All Community Hubs, selecting on the hub of your choice, and then selecting Join.

Azure on Microsoft Q&A

The Azure Community is now part of Microsoft Q&A. The Azure Community benefit provides you with access to Azure-related community channels on Stack Overflow, Twitter, and the Azure channel in Microsoft Q&A.

Getting started with Azure Community is easy.

  1. Sign in to https://my.visualstudio.com/benefits.

  2. Locate the Azure Community tile in the Support section, and select the Get Help link.

  3. Choose the channel you want to use
