Il valore dell'oggetto corrente DateTime viene formattato utilizzando l'identificatore di formato di data e ora generale ('G'), che formatta l'output usando il modello di data breve e il modello di ora lunga.

Il ToString(String) metodo restituisce la rappresentazione di stringa di un valore di data e ora in un formato specifico che utilizza le convenzioni di formattazione delle impostazioni cultura correnti. Per altre informazioni, vedere CultureInfo.CurrentCulture.

Il format parametro deve contenere un singolo carattere di identificatore di formato (vedere Stringhe di formato data e ora standard) o un modello di formato personalizzato (vedere Stringhe di formato di data e ora personalizzate) che definisce il formato della stringa restituita. Se format è null o una stringa vuota, viene usato l'identificatore di formato generale "G".

Alcuni usi di questo metodo includono:

  • Recupero di una stringa che visualizza la data e l'ora nel formato di data e ora brevi delle impostazioni cultura correnti. A tale scopo, usare l'identificatore di formato "G".

  • Recupero di una stringa contenente solo il mese e l'anno. A tale scopo, usare la stringa di formato "MM/aaaa". La stringa di formato usa il separatore di data delle impostazioni cultura correnti.

  • Recupero di una stringa contenente la data e l'ora in un formato specifico. Ad esempio, la stringa di formato "MM/gg/aaH:mm" visualizza la stringa di data e ora in un formato fisso, ad esempio "19//03//2013 18:06". La stringa di formato usa "/" come separatore di data fissa indipendentemente dalle impostazioni specifiche delle impostazioni cultura.

  • Recupero di una data in un formato condensato che può essere usato per serializzare una stringa di data. Ad esempio, la stringa di formato "yyyyMMdd" visualizza un anno a quattro cifre seguito da un mese a due cifre e da un giorno a due cifre senza separatore di data.

Il format parametro può contenere un singolo carattere di identificatore di formato (vedere Stringhe di formato data e ora standard) o un modello di formato personalizzato (vedere Stringhe di formato di data e ora personalizzate). Il ToString(String, IFormatProvider) metodo restituisce la rappresentazione di stringa della data e dell'ora nel calendario utilizzato dal provider parametro .
