Copy files on the client for custom functionality

This step is required for Unified Service Desk client application only if you will be connecting to the CRM 2013 SP1 or CRM 2013 SP1 with Product Updates package using the Unified Service Desk client.

The CRM 2013 SP1 and CRM 2013 SP1 with Product Updates packages for Unified Service Desk contain custom controls, such as KPI control and Customer Information System, which require additional files to be installed under the Unified Service Desk client installation directory. These files are required for rendering the functionality of the custom control and sample application when you connect to these packages using the Unified Service Desk client.

Warning

If you do not copy the files required for the custom functionality for the CRM 2013 SP1 or CRM 2013 SP1 with Product Updates package functionality, you will receive an error message stating that the controls could not be created while connecting to the package from the Unified Service Desk client, and anytime thereafter when the control is accessed in the client application.

  1. Exit the Unified Service Desk client application, if running.

  2. During the deployment of the Unified Service Desk packages earlier, the Package Deployer tool prompted you to extract the required files/assemblies to a folder. See step 11 in Deploy sample Unified Service Desk applications to CRM server using Package Deployer

  3. Copy all the files from the folder in step 2 to the Unified Service Desk client installation directory on your computer (by default, C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics CRM USD\USD). You will be prompted to overwrite some files; accept to overwrite the files.

    Tip

You might consider making this folder available at a central, shared location in your organization so that it is readily available for copying over the files for new Unified Service Desk client installations.

  4. Run the Unified Service Desk client, and connect to the CRM instance where the Unified Service Desk package is deployed to verify if it runs successfully. For more information, see Connect to a CRM instance using the Unified Service Desk client.
