Obtaining and Installing the .NET Micro Framework SDK

[This documentation is for preview only, and is subject to change in later releases. Blank topics are included as placeholders.]

You can download the SDK from the .NET Micro Framework Web site. The SDK is also included with development boards.

Before installing version 4.3 of the .NET Micro Framework SDK, you must un-install any previous version of the .NET Micro Framework SDK or Porting Kit. Side-by-side installation of multiple versions of the SDK or Porting Kit is not supported.

Obtaining the SDK with a Development Board

If you buy a development board with the .NET Micro Framework already installed, the board vendor always provides you with the SDK. This typically comes on a CD. Other custom software from the board vendor may also be provided on the CD. The board vendor’s documentation provides you with instructions on how to install both the SDK and any additional software the vendor provides.

Downloading the SDK

If you want to try out the .NET Micro Framework without buying a development board, you can download it from the .NET Micro Framework Web site. The SDK includes a Windows-compatible emulator that you can use to write programs just as you would on real hardware.
