MCATT Pattern Editor allows you to create, edit, and visualize pattern files that can be used with MCATT test module included in the MITT software package.

MCATT Pattern Editor is included in the MITT software package. Download the MITT software package.

Define a touch simulator pad layout

For capacitive touch tests by using the MITT board, you need a touch simulator pad. Use the MCATT Pattern Editor to define the layout of the pad.

The MITT software package includes a sample layout named MCATT_8x5.layout. The layout is used in the example described in Capacitive touch tests in MITT.MCATT example layout

  1. Run McattPatternEditor.exe.

  2. Select Layout > New Layout….

  3. Specify a name for the layout, the grid width and height for the board, and click Define….

    The next dialog shows simulation of the grid of the specified size.

  4. Create the pattern in this grid that represents your touch pad. "N/A" indicates that portion of the board does not have a contact point. Here is an example layout.

  5. Select Create to save the layout. Now you start creating/ editing/ visualizing the patterns for the layout you just defined.

Create an MCATT pattern file

  1. Run McattPatternEditor.exe.

  2. Select Layout > New….

  3. Select the layout for which you want to create a file. In this example, MCATT_8x5.layout is selected.

Edit an MCATT pattern file

  1. Run McattPatternEditor.exe.

  2. Select Layout > Open….

  3. Select a pattern file.

    UI elements Description

    Pattern frame visualized on board layout (region 1)

    Shows the grid points of the layout. If a portion does not have a contact point, that portion is shown as disabled. You can select values "0" and "1" for each contact point in the drop down list. The value shown is the bit position that was defined during the board layout definition.

    Frame list area (region 2)

    Shows the list of all frames in order. Select a frame to view and edit the pattern for that frame in region 1. Region 3 shows the commands that you can use with the frame.

    Frame commands (region 3)

    • New Blank Frame

      Create an empty frame with all available contact points set to "0" and append it to the end of the frame list.

    • Duplicate: Frame x

      Copy of the frame shown on the right and append it to the end of the frame list. This is available only when a frame is selected.

    • Delete: Frame x

      Delete the selected frame. NThis is available only when a frame is selected.ote that the frames will be re-numbered after this operation for display purposes.

    • Play/Stop

      Start or stop all the frames so you can visualize the complete pattern animation. You can change the playback visualization speed by changing the playback speed slider.

    Modify the frame and specify the microseconds for the pattern rate for MITT/ MCATT to use.

    Playback speed area (region 5)

    Move the slider to change the playback speed. You change the speed when the playback is stopped Moving the slider towards left (smaller values) will make the playback faster. Moving the slider towards right will make the playback slower.

     

  4. Select File > Save or Save As… to save the file.
