The Best Practices Analyzer tool for Team Foundation Server determines the online status of those servers that provide services and also checks the last known entry for the jobs that are run for Team Foundation Server.

A message appears if any of the following conditions is true:

  • Service host "{0}" is offline (Error)

    To resolve this condition, verify that the named server is running and that you can access it from the computer from which you ran the scan.

  • {0} job has failed (Warning)

    A warning appears for each job whose last known entry indicates that the job failed. The message indicates the name of the job that failed and the error that is associated with the failure.

    You do not have to resolve warning messages. If the same job continues to fail, you may want to investigate the cause further. For more information about the service under which the jobs are run, see the following page on the Microsoft Web site: Team Foundation Background Job Agent.

    If an upgrade job failed, you can retry it by using TFSConfig jobs /retry. For more information, see the following page on the Microsoft Web site: Jobs Command.
