Narrow Your Update Search by Using Filters

Update filters help you narrow your search to list updates with a specific status. For example, in the Updates workspace, you might filter your search to list updates that were approved, updates that are needed on computers but have not yet been approved, or updates that were superseded by other updates. You can also search from a list of computer groups when in the Updates workspace. For example, you can search for computers that need the selected update to be approved.

You can use filters together with a specific selection in the navigation pane, or with All Updates selected. When you have a filter selected, your searches are constrained against that selection until you make a new selection.

Update Filters and Descriptions

The following table shows the filters that are available when you are viewing a list of all updates in the Updates workspace.

Filter	Description
None	This is the default filter for all views. This filter displays all updates or all computers in the list view, including those that do not apply to the selected computer or update.
Failed	Updates that failed to install on at least one computer.
New updates to approve	New updates that are available for approval, are required by at least one computer, but are not yet approved to any computer groups.
Needing additional approvals	Updates that are approved, but required by computers that are not members of the targeted groups.
With pending installations	Updates for which installation has not yet been completed by the computers for which they are approved.
Superseded	Updates that are superseded by other updates.
Declined	Updates that were declined.
New updates to be approved	All available updates. This includes those that do not apply to this computer.
With failures	Updates for which this computer experienced an installation failure.
Pending installation	Approved updates for which installation has not yet been tried.
Needing additional approvals	Approved updates that are required by this computer, but are not targeted to any groups to which the computer belongs.

The following table shows the filters that are available when you are viewing a list of computers for a single update in the Updates workspace.

Filter	Description
Needing this update	Computers that need this update to be approved.
Failed	Computers that failed to install this update.
Pending installation	Computers for which an update is approved, but installation was not yet tried.
