Approve Updates

When you approve an update, you specify the computer groups to which it will be applied and other parameters, such as installation date and inheritance. You can select a single update or multiple updates to approve. When you select a single update, you can view the Update Properties page to review the update details before you approve the update. When you select multiple updates, you continue directly to the Approve window.

The following procedure shows how to select and approve one or more updates in the Updates workspace.

Nota

The Security Updates Need to be Approved and Critical Updates Need to be Approved alert types are generated when security updates and critical updates need approval. These alert types are refreshed every hour. After you approve security updates or critical updates, the corresponding alert types will continue to be displayed until they are refreshed.

To approve updates

  1. Open the Consola de administrador do Windows Intune™.

  2. In the workspace shortcuts pane, click the Updates icon.

  3. On the Updates Overview page, click New updates to approve. The updates that are needed by at least one managed computer are displayed in the updates list page.

  4. To select updates, do one of the following:

    • To select a single update, click the update title. On the Update Properties page, you can review the properties to make sure that you want to approve the update. If you decide to approve the update, click Approve in the Tasks area.

    • To select multiple updates in the list, hold down the CTRL key and then click each update that you want to approve. In the menu bar, click Approve.

  5. In the Approve window, select the group for which you want to manage the approval of the updates, and then select the following approval settings that apply:

    • Install. Installs the update on computers in the targeted group.

    • Do Not Install. Reports applicability only and neither installs nor uninstalls the update.

    • Uninstall. Removes updates from computers in the targeted group.

      Importante

The update is removed even if it was installed by using a method other than the Consola de administrador do Windows Intune.

    • Set Deadline. Specifies an installation deadline date and time. The following options are available:

      • None Indicates that no deadline is enforced for the installation of the update and users may decline the update continually.

      • As soon as possible Installs the update at the next opportunity by all targeted computers.

      • Custom Specifies the date and time that approved updates are installed.

    • Set Inheritance. Manages the update approval option for inheritance. By default, an approval option that is applied to a parent group is applied to its direct and indirect child groups. Groups that inherit approval status from their parent are indicated as (inherited) in the Approval column. The following two inheritance options are available:

      • Apply to children Ensures that the approval status for a group is reflected in all its child groups, even if the approval status for the child group was configured explicitly.

      • Same as parent Ensures that the approval status for a child group inherits the status of the parent, even if the child group was configured explicitly.

      Importante

Unless the action Do Not Install, Install, or Uninstall was explicitly configured for a child group, an action configured for a parent group will be inherited by all its children.

  6. Click OK to save the settings, or click Cancel to discard the settings and return to the updates list.

  7. Make sure to check the bottom of the window for reminder messages about the update in the Update Details area.
