How to Update Package Data on Distribution Points

Although you can schedule recurring updates to a distribution point by using the Data Source tab in the properties of a package, you can also manually update package data on associated distribution points at any time. Manually updating the distribution points will not interfere with the recurring update schedule. (For more information about setting a recurring update schedule for a package, see Package Name Properties: Data Access Tab.)

注意

To update a package on its associated distribution points, you must have Distribute permission for the Package Security object type or for the specific package instance. For more information about security permissions, see Classes and Instances for Object Security in Configuration Manager.

When you update package data on a distribution point, the existing copy of the package files is first deleted from the distribution point. Configuration Manager 2007 then sends a new copy of the package data to the distribution point. The version of the package is incremented every time the package is updated.

To update package data on a distribution point

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Software Distribution / Package / <package name>.

  2. Right-click Distribution Point, and then click Update Distribution Points.

    注意

You can also update a package's distribution points by right-clicking the package name and then clicking Update Distribution Points.

  3. Click Yes to confirm that you want to update the package on the selected distribution point with a new version of the package.
