Data model overview

The data models in Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare are based on the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standards framework.

Microsoft makes it easy for partners and customers to create new use cases and workflows without redefining the healthcare data architecture. The FHIR-based models make Dynamics 365 implementations for healthcare customers easier, quicker, and more secure. To learn more about the FHIR standards framework, go to FHIR Specification.

Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare includes the following data models:

  • Provider data model (previously called the Healthcare data model): HL7® FHIR® standards-based data model that comes included with all Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare solutions.
  • Payor data model: HL7® FHIR® standards-based data model focused on claim entities and supporting revenue cycle management.
  • Life sciences data model (preview): HL7® FHIR® standards-based preview data model focused on clinical trial recruit entities and supporting digital clinical trial management.

These data models are also available as standalone options for partners and Dataverse customers in the Microsoft Cloud Solution Center. For information about deploying the data models, go to Deploy Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare solutions powered by Dynamics 365.
