Cannot find "Edge" settings in Windows registry in Windows 10

Hi,

I have been trying to find some of the settings in Edge for Business now, that used to be available in the old Internet Explorer. Specifically, I am looking for the setting for certificate behavior, "Automatically send if only 1", which would cause the browser to automatically send the client certificate, without a popup, if there was only one client certificate.

That setting used to be available in the IE settings, but I cannot find them for Edge, on Windows 10. I have checked gpedit and also the Windows registry (regedit).

From what I've found, there is supposed to be an "Edge" folder/key under the SOFTWARE branch in registry, but it is not there on my Windows 10 machine.

I've also seen posts that way to ADD the "Edge" folder in registry, and then it is supposed to get populated automatically, but I tried that and the "Edge" folder in registry is NOT getting populated.

FYI, I wasn't sure where to ask about this, but I had tried posting over in Answers earlier (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftedge/forum/all/edge-missing-from-registry-in-windows-10/e90608f6-8f15-4b24-af5e-b2bb0f0bd916), so sorry for the cross-post :( ....

I hope that someone here can help.

Thanks,

Jim

I've never heard of such a setting. Edge is not IE and assuming that whatever IE supported then Edge supports would be incorrect. Edge has more in common with Chrome than IE.

Does the setting exist anywhere in the Edge settings in the UX? If it does then it is likely configurable via GPO (which is the correct way to do this). If there is no such option in the UX then most likely this isn't available in Edge.

To use GPO with Edge you'll need to download the template(s) as discussed here. The Edge policies are defined here.

    Hi @jimcpl1000

I agree with Michael Taylor's answer. I guess you refer to this setting in IE:

    User's image

Unfortunately, there's no same setting or policy in Edge. Chromium based browser doesn't use the concept of Zones in IE, so instead the AutoSelectCertificateForUrls policy exists. This policy allows an IT administrator to configure clients to automatically send certificates to specified websites that request them.
