I must admit,
learn.microsoft.com is not a very user friendly platform.
At the moment I have no idea how I can put this question in the IIS forum as there doesn't seem to be any forums to post in. I do not know what forum I am posting in now.
Some guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Redirecting my website internally to an external website
Hello (before I start I should mention I have no way of putting this thread in the DNS forum, I cannot find the forum),
I've been trying to do this for a few days with no success and I must be missing a step.
My internal domain is abc.com
My external domain is also abc.com
In the past in order to get my website to work I had a DNS pointer that said www point to my external website IP. It worked fine
I have to now point my website to a different site, abc.com redirects to xyz.com
Externally, that works fine, internally however I can't make it work.
I tried putting the IP of the new site as a new DNS record, I tried a CNAME that was abc = xyz.com that didn't work
I tried to do it via IIS where I put http redirects, that also failed.
Can someone help me out, maybe explain to me what I'm doing wrong
Thanks !

2020-11-27T15:25:18.833+00:00 When I change the DNS from an A record (which I had before pointing to my old site) to a CNAME which reads
www.abc.com go towards www.xyz.com
I do a flushdns / registerdns and then try to go to the siteIf I do http://www.abc.com it redirects to https://www.abc.com and it gives me a (continue to this site not recommended)
When I click on connect I then receive a HTTP 404 Webpage cannot be foundAny ideas?

Externally, that works fine, internally however I can't make it work.
What's the exact error message when you cannot browse internally?
Also run ipconfig /flushdns to clear DNS cache.
