Hi all

I am planning to migrate our company old server to a 2019 and there are less than 20 users, so Essential version is enough for its role. I have made reference to these 2 threads and have a rough picture how it should be going:

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/914aa5f5-432c-46e2-b6b2-ce1da0d07091/server-2003-to-2019-alternative-way-to-migrate-users-and-shares

But the problem is when I ran dcdiag, there is only 1 error:

Starting test: frsevent
There are warning or error events within the last 24 hours after the
SYSVOL has been shared. Failing SYSVOL replication problems may cause
Group Policy problems.
......................... (dc) failed test frsevent

Is it critical in the migration? If yes, how to fix this problem?

Also, how to use repadmin to check the health of the server?

Thank you very much

    Thanks Karlie

    I understand:

    1. migrate server 2003 to server 2012/2016
    2. upgrade server 2012/2016 to DFSR
    3. migrate server 2012/2016 to server 2019

But I need to fix the error of frsevent which I still don't have any idea. Could you tell me where I can find some hint?

    Thanks

    Hello @Terry Lee

Before migrating to windows server 2019 you should fix domain controllers issue. meantime, for migrating to server 2019 you should migrate to DFSR.

"frsevent Checks to see if there are errors in the file replication system. (Failing replication of the SYSVOL share can cause policy problems.)"

Please refer to the Warnings and Errors about Dcdiag

Repadmin.exe Assists you in diagnosing replication issues between domain controllers. This tool requires command-line parameters to run.
For more information and to download, see Repadmin.

    Best Regards
    Karlie
