We are trying to disable Automatic Updates for Office 365 as we use a 3rd party tool to manage all of our workstation/office patches. I have a group policy that disables Windows Updates and Office 365 update but we are still getting prompted to update Office. How do we stop the automatic updates?

Open Run and type (services.msc) then on the list find windows updated, double click it and stop the current update and also turn the Manual Trigging to disabled.

Found additional registry entry that needed to be updated. Once that registry entry was updated automatic updates stopped.

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\cloud\office\16.0\Common\officeupdate
    DWORD: EnableAutomaticUpdates
    Values:
0 = automatic updates are disabled
1 = automatic updates are enabled

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\cloud\office\16.0\Common\officeupdate\ignoregpo
0 = automatic updates are disabled
1 = automatic updates are enabled

Seems that disabling the "Office Automatic Updates 2.0" scheduled task has stopped the prompting

However the "Update Now" option is still available even though the registry is set correctly from everything that I've read

To remove the 'Update Now' button, you will need to disable automatic updates.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\policies\microsoft\office\16.0\common\OfficeUpdate
    DWORD: EnableAutomaticUpdates
    Values:
0 = automatic updates are disabled
1 = automatic updates are enabled
