Classic portal: Security configuration overview for public cloud platforms

Note

Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps is now part of Microsoft Defender XDR, which correlates signals from across the Microsoft Defender suite and provides incident-level detection, investigation, and powerful response capabilities. Automatic redirection from the classic portal is on by default for all customers.

Starting June 16th, 2024, the redirection toggle to switch back to the clasisc portal will no longer be available. From then on, all users accessing the classic Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps portal will be automatically rerouted to the Microsoft Defender portal, with no option to opt-out.

To prepare for this change, we recommend that any customers still using the classic portal move operations to the Microsoft Defender portal. For more information, see Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps in the Microsoft Defender portal.

Note

Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) is now supported in Microsoft Defender for Cloud. Once Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps fully converges with the Microsoft Defender Portal, CSPM will only be available in the new Microsoft Defender for Cloud page.

Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps provides you with security configuration assessments for your SaaS applications. This multicloud view of all cloud platform security configuration recommendations enables security admins to investigate all security configuration gaps in Defender for Cloud Apps.

Security recommendations report

Defender for Cloud Apps lets you export a details list of security recommendations to help you monitor, understand, and customize your cloud environments to better protect your organization.

To export a security recommendations list, perform the following steps:

  1. In Defender for Cloud Apps, browse to Investigate > Security configuration.

  2. Select the security recommendations tab for the relevant cloud.

  3. On the top-right of the recommendations table, select Export.
