The Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA) is a recommended tool for helping to keep Windows Small Business Server 2003 secure. MBSA performs important vulnerability checks in the system configuration, such as administrator group memberships, local account passwords, and security update checks. MBSA includes graphical and command-line interfaces that can perform local and remote scans of Windows-based systems. MBSA runs on computers running Windows 2000, Windows XP, and the Windows Server 2003 family. MBSA also scans for missing fixes and vulnerabilities in the following products: Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and the Windows Server 2003 family; Internet Information Server (IIS) 4.0; Internet Information Server 5.0; SQL Server 7.0; SQL Server 2000; Internet Explorer 5.01 and later; and Microsoft Office. MBSA creates and displays security reports for each computer scanned.
